Teaching the Craft

As the cost of information and rote legal production approaches zero, we do not intend to preserve our value by hiding how the work is done.

Information is now a commodity, moving past the days when lawyers acted as gatekeepers to a private class of knowledge. Additionally, through the St. Maximilian Kolbe Justice Clinic, we teach self-represented people how the system actually works: procedure, evidence, preparation, reasoning, persuasion, and the practical mechanics of moving a case forward. The point is not simply access to information. It is capability.

SCARCITY OF WISDOM
As the cost of information approaches zero, the scarce capacity is the ability to hold the whole field in view: facts, people, incentives, timing, risk, downstream consequences, and the objective they all serve. It is for the person living through the case. Clients often come to us at rock bottom. Family may fracture. Friends may disappear. Some are walking almost entirely alone. Fear, shame, and uncertainty can become a prison until the case occupies every thought and the darkest chapter begins to feel like the end of the story.
We are counselors at law as well as advocates. We cannot promise an outcome or remove every loss. We can stand beside the client, tell the truth, and help preserve agency and self-command while the legal battle is fought.
There is a you before the case, a you inside the case, and a you after the case. One day, future you will look back on these dark hours. We do not romanticize suffering. But when it cannot be avoided, you still have a say in who you become through it.
